Questions homeowners ask us
How much does cladding cost, and can the price change?
Your price is fixed in writing before work starts and it doesn't move. No variations halfway through. We don't publish figures because cost depends on your home's size, storeys and what's underneath, so anyone quoting sight-unseen is guessing. We measure up and give you one number within 48 hours, free.
Why not just repaint my weatherboards?
You can, and in five years you'll be doing it again. Timber needs scraping, priming and repainting for as long as you own the house, and rot and splitting carry on underneath. Cladding ends the cycle. It goes straight over the top, never absorbs water and never needs painting. One job, instead of a cost that repeats forever.
We've been quoted cheaper options. Why is vinyl or steel worth the difference?
Usually the gap is the product, the labour, or what happens afterwards. Cheaper cladding is often imported and built for milder climates, so it chalks and goes brittle in Australian sun. Cheaper quotes often mean subcontractors, and a cheap number can move once the walls are open. If a quote comes in well under ours, ask what product it is, who installs it, and whether the price is guaranteed.
Will it fade, warp or discolour over time?
No. Our vinyl is Australian-made for Victorian conditions, so it holds colour instead of chalking. Steel comes in the full COLORBOND® range with a factory-baked finish. Neither rots, warps or needs repainting. A hose down once or twice a year is the whole maintenance schedule.
Can you clad over my existing weatherboards or fibro?
Usually, yes. Most homes we do are clad straight over existing weatherboards or fibro, so there's no demolition and less mess. We check the walls at the quote visit and tell you then if anything needs repair first, not after we've started. If your home has asbestos sheeting, we'll talk you through how that's handled before anything is booked.
What warranty do I get?
50 years on the cladding and 7 years on our workmanship, in writing, with your quote. We're HIA members, 30 years in Victoria, so it's backed by a business that will still be here to honour it.
How long does the job take, and do I need to move out?
No. It's all exterior work, so you stay in your home and the inside is untouched. Vinyl takes 5 to 7 days, steel weatherboards 7 to 9, windows and doors 4 to 5. We just need clear access around the house. Our own team does the job start to finish, and your dates come with the quote.
